Bahrain Police, Protesters Clash in Village near Capital
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Bahrain's police fired tear gas and used sound bombs to disperse hundreds of demonstrators on Saturday in a Shiite village near the capital, witnesses said.
Witnesses said the incident took place at a road junction in Sanabis following the funeral of a 15-year-old youth.
The protesters chanted anti-regime slogans, AFP reported.
The uprising in Bahrain began in early 2011.
According to local sources, scores of people have been killed and hundreds arrested ever since. Bahraini authorities have stepped up their crackdown on anti-regime activists over the past weeks.
