Iran to Hold 8th Exclusive Exhibition in Turkmenistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran plans to stage its 8th exclusive exhibition in the Central Asian state of Turkmenistan in the near future, a provincial official said on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters, Managing Director of Mashhad International Exhibitions Seyed Mohammad Seyedi stated that Iran will present different goods and services, including foodstuff, food processing and packing industries, printing machines, animal husbandry and agricultural facilities and machines, construction materials, civil engineering facilities, technical and engineering sevices, transportation, sports goods, mining, oil, gas and petrochemical industrial machines.

During the previous seven exhibitions in Turkmenistan, Iran had presented hand and machine-woven carpets, medical facilities, decorative stones… and sought and found good opportunities for the transfer of technologies and investment in that Central Asian republic.

Tehran has the largest volume of trade exchange with Turkmenistan after Russia.

The value of tarde between Iran and Turkmenistan is estimated to be around $5 bln a year, and Iranian and Turkmen officials have expressed the hope that the figure could reach $10 bln in the coming years.

On August 5, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani had also praised the close ties between Iran and Turkmenistan, and emphasized the need for further enhancement of bilateral relations between the two nations.

In a meeting with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow at the time, President Rouhani pointed to amicable relations between Tehran and Ashgabat, saying, “Bilateral relations in economic, political and cultural fields will further develop in the future.”
