New Version of Anti-Iran Movie '300' to Go on Screen in US

January 13, 2014 - 11:37

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's cultural representative in the New York said "Rise of An Empire", a new version of the anti-Iran movie '300', is due to go on screen in the US theaters in March.

The Iranian representative said that the poster and the trailer of the movie has already been released in the US.

“The Warner Brothers movie is going to be screened in the US cinema halls in March, 2014,” said the cultural envoy.

'300: Rise of an Empire' is an 2014 American action film directed by Noam Murro. It is a follow-up to the 2007 film 300.

Zack Snyder, who directed and co-wrote the original film, acts as writer and producer in Rise of an Empire.

The cast includes Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Callan Mulvey, Hans Matheson, and Jack O'Connell. The cast also includes Lena Headey, Rodrigo Santoro, and David Wenham, reprising their roles from the first film.

Obviously Warner Bros. wanted to keep the 300 connection alive in terms of titling, since most will jump at the opportunity to return to that world. While the film doesn’t star practically any members of the original’s principal cast, 300: Rise of an Empire does boast a story that runs concurrent to the events in the first movie.

Loosely based on the Battle of Artemisium, it will feature the naval section of a battle between the Persians and the Greek. During the battle, the Persians - led by Artemisia (Eva Green) - were making a second attempt at invading Greece, whilst another army, led by the Xerxes, was advancing through Thermopylae.
