Lebanese Speaker to Visit Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri will depart Beirut on Friday to start a tour of Kuwait, Iran, Germany and Albania, Lebanese media reports said Wednesday.

According to Lebanon's Annahar news agency, in Tehran, Berri is going to hold meeting with a number of high-ranking Iranian officials in Tehran.

He will also meet with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the report said.

He also plans to deliver official invitations to a number of Iranian officials.

Analysts say that Berri's visit to Iran will leave key effect on the ongoing efforts to form Lebanese government.

On January 14 the Iranian foreign minister expressed the country’s preparedness to offer any assistance to Lebanon for the formation of a new government in the Arab country.

In a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam in Beirut, Zarif expressed satisfaction with the recent developments is Lebanon that are aimed at formation of a new government.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to give Lebanon any assistance with the formation of a new government, Zarif reiterated at the time.

The Iranian top diplomat also held meetings with Lebanese President Michel Suleiman and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
