AEOI Chief Downplays Israeli Threats against Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi dismissed the importance of threats raised by the Zionist regime against Iran and the anti-Israel resistance movement.

“Iran and the Resistance (movement) have no fear of the Zionist regime and they (the Israelis) will not dare to launch a strike (against Iran and the Resistance), either,” Salehi told reporters on Wednesday when asked about Israel’s new plots against Lebanon.

The Zionist regime has frequently threatened to target Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement. It has also made warmongering threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has frequently threatened unilateral military action against Iran to dismantle the Islamic Republic’s civilian nuclear facilities.

Iranian officials have dismissed the threats, saying that the Tel Aviv regime is too weak to dare make such a brazen move.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Salehi, who was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the international conference on the “Role of the Islamic World on the Global Power Structure”, highlighted the role of the conference in enhancing Islamic unity.

“When Muslims gather together (in conferences like this), they learn about the existing challenges facing the Islamic Ummah,” he said, adding that after identifying (and addressing) the problems, the ground will be set for strengthening unity.

The two-day conference on the “Role of the Islamic World on the Global Power Structure” is being held in Tehran under the auspices of Iran’s Supreme National Defense University, the Islamic Awakening Assembly secretariat and the Strategic Research Center of Iran's Expediency Council.

Dozens of leading figures and influential personalities in the Muslim world have taken part in the gathering.
