Iran’s Sadeghzadeh Seizes Silver in IPC Powerlifting World Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ali Sadeghzadeh of Iran claimed a silver medal on the final day of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Powerlifting World Championships in Dubai, the UAE.

In the 107 kg class, Pavlos Mamalos from Greece won the gold with a lift of 240 kg.

Sadeghzadeh of Iran seized the silver by lifting 231 kg. Bronze medal went to Elshan Huseynov from Azerbaijan, who lifted 230 kg.

In youth section, Iran’s Mahdi Sayadi won a gold medal and set a new world record of 167 kg.

The 2014 IPC Powerlifting World Championships, held from April 5 to 11 in the UAE, brought over 330 athletes from nearly 60 countries together.
