Foolad Crushes Al Fateh in AFC Champions League

TEHRAN(Tasnim) – Foolad of Iran defeated Saudi Arabia’s Al Fateh in its last game of the AFC Champions League group stage on Wednesday.

The Iranian team, which had already advanced to the next stage, beat 10-man Al Fateh at the Prince Abdullah Bin Jalawi Stadium.

Luciano Chimba netted a hat trick against the host. The Brazilian striker opened the scoring in the 10th minute then scored twice from the penalty spot in the 36th and 44th minutes.

Hamdan Al Hamad was shown a red card two minutes before the half-time.

Mohammed Al Feheid pulled a goal back in the 62nd minute, but Gholamreza Rezaei of Iran rubbed the salt into Al Fateh’s wounds. He scored Foolad’s fourth goal in the 78th minute and found the back of the net once again in the 90th minute from the spot.

In another match in Group B, Bunyodkor of Uzbekistan defeated Al Jaish of Qatar in its away game and booked a place in the knock out stage.

Foolad finished in first place with 14 points and Bunyodkor came second in the group with 8 points.

Al Jaish and Al Fateh bagged eight and two points, respectively.

Foolad will play Al-Sadd of Qatar in the round of 16 while Bunyodkor is scheduled to face Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia.
