Pakistani Diplomat: Exchanging Cultural Visits Key to Promoting Ties with Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Pakistan’s consul-general in the Iranian southeastern city of Zahedan said exchanging visits by cultural groups is necessary to expand cultural ties between Tehran and Islamabad.

Mohammad Taher Qoreishi made the comments in a meeting with General-Director of the Department of Iran’s Ministry Of Culture And Guidance in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan Abbas Daneshi on Monday.

Qoreishi also pointed to the deeply-rooted relations between Iran and Pakistan saying Islamabad welcomes exchanging visits by cultural groups between the two neighboring countries.

Iran and Pakistan have exchanged delegations on a regular basis as part of efforts to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Back in May, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif paid a formal visit to Iran, and held meetings with senior Iranian officials.

Pakistan-Iran relations are bound by historical and religious linkages, Nawaz said, “I am here to open a new page in Pakistan-Iran relationships.”
