Minister: Iraq Big Market for Iran's Energy Sector

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian energy minister said that Iraq has great potential to attract Iran's engineering services in energy sector.

“Iraq is a big market for Iran’s exports of technical and engineering services in the electricity industry,” Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian said on Tuesday.

“Iraq has huge oil reserves and is awash in oil revenues,” he said, adding that this country owns enough resources for the development of the country.

Iranian companies have so far completed 10 projects in Iraq in the area of water and electricity and another 27 projects of the companies valued at $1.245 billion are still underway in the country.

Earlier in February, Chitchian had announced that Iran's power exports to Iraq witnessed an eye-catching growth during the last Iranian year (starting on March 21, 2013).

Iran currently exports electricity to Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan and Afghanistan on a daily basis, and new projects are underway to boost the country’s power exports in future, he stated.
