Supreme Leader Calls on Muslims to Arm Palestinians
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday reiterated the necessity for supporting Palestinian resistance groups in their fight with the Israeli regime, saying that the US is seeking to disarm Palestinians to help Israel suppress them easily.
Addressing a large congregation of people after leading the Eid al-Fitr prayers in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei lashed out at US emphasis on the need for stripping the anti-Israeli resistance of weapons, and said the move is aimed at depriving the Palestinian nation from their limited possibility for defense and helping the Zionist enemy to oppress Palestine whenever possible.
“Unlike the view and effort of supporters of 'the child-murderer Zionist regime', the whole world and the Islamic world in particular have an obligation to arm the Palestinian nation as much as possible,” the Leader added.
Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that the issue of Gaza is the crux of the matter in the Islamic world and even the world of humanity today.
It is the humanity’s duty to react to Israel’s ruthless aggression against people of the Gaza Strip, Imam Khamenei insisted.
Imam Khamenei also lashed out at Israel for its offensive against Gaza, and stated, “This rabid dog, this rapacious wolf, has attacked innocent people and humanity must show a reaction. This is genocide, a catastrophe of historical scale.”
On July 8, Israel launched air strikes on the Gaza Strip. After 10 days of bombardment of the enclave from the air and sea, the Israeli forces started a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.
The death toll from the three-week-old Israeli onslaught on Gaza has reached over 1,100 and nearly 6,000 have been wounded.
