Iran’s FM Urges Muslims to Unite against Israel

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called on the Islamic nations to close ranks to defend people of Gaza against Israel’s offensive.

Zarif on Monday sent a congratulatory message to his Muslim counterparts on the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr, an Islamic festival marking the end of fasting month of Ramadan.

In the message, the senior Iranian diplomat highlighted the significance of “unity and solidarity” among the Muslim nations in the face of the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.

Zarif also expressed the hope that the Islamic countries, particularly Palestinians, would rise to the challenges with fortitude.

While the world’s Muslims celebrated Eid al-Fitr at the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, Israel’s military attacks on the Gaza Strip has caused the international community great distress.

The Israeli regime launched its offensive on the coastal enclave on July 8. After 10 days of bombardment of the strip from the air and sea, the Israeli forces started a ground operation in Gaza.

More than 1,100 Gazans, most of them civilians, have been killed in 22 days of Israeli offensive.
