Iran Summons Nigerian Diplomat over Killing of Quds Day Demonstrators

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s foreign ministry summoned Nigerian charge d'affaires in the country to protest recent attack on pro-Palestinian demonstrators in the northern city of Zaria.

During a meeting held on Thursday, a senior Iranian official strongly condemned the deadly attack on Quds Day demonstration in Zaria and called for the prosecution of the predators.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian diplomat expressed regret over the incident saying Abuja has already condemned the attack.

A joint fact-finding committee will be set up soon to bring those behind the incident to justice, he added.

Some reports say over two dozen people were killed after Nigerian security forces opened fire on peaceful pro-Palestinian demonstrators marking the International Quds Day in the northern city of Zaria on Friday.
