Tehran, Beirut Urge Immediate Aid for People in Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian and Lebanese officials emphasized the need for swiftly dispatching aid to the people in the war-torn Gaza Strip.

In a Thursday meeting in Beirut, Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Fathali and Lebanese Health Minister Wael Abu Faour discussed the brutal Israeli offensive on Gaza and underlined the need for immediately delivering aid to the Gazans.

Fathali voiced Iran’s preparedness to deliver humanitarian aid to the coastal enclave via Egypt and to provide medical treatment for those wounded in the Zionist regime’s attacks.

The Palestinians death toll has exceeded 1,450 since the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip began on July 8. Over 8,300 Palestinians were injured in the Israeli attacks.

UN figures show about two-thirds of the victims were civilians, drawing sharp criticism from around the world.

Meanwhile people of Gaza, which has been under Zionist regime’s blockade since June 2007, are living in dire conditions and are in need of urgent humanitarian aid.

The United Nations reported on Tuesday that some 215,000 Gazans have fled their homes, taking shelter in UN-designated shelters due to the Israeli offensive.

Elsewhere in their meeting, Fathali and Abu Faour called for the expansion of cooperation between Iran and Lebanon in health and medical areas.
