Iran Beats Timor Leste in AFC U-14 Championship
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran defeated Timor Leste 4-1 in its opening match of the AFC U-14 Championship on Monday.
In the match held at the Hajibabaei Stadium in Iran's western city of Hamedan, Iran’s Zabhiollah Kohkan opened the scoring in the 22nd minute and Vahid Namdari extended the lead two minutes later.
Mohsen Godarzi was on target in the 52nd minute and Mohammed Zolfaghari scored Iran’s fourth goal in the 61st minute.
Kornelis Nahak netted a consolation goal for Timor Leste in stoppage time courtesy of a penalty.
“I am very happy with the way we started the campaign but the score today was a little inflated. They (Timor Leste) were speedy and were very technical,” Iran coach Heidar Sharifi said.
Iran will face DPR Korea on Wednesday, while Timor Leste play Saudi Arabia.
