Iranian FM Due in Moscow on Friday
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is planned to pay a visit to Moscow on August 29 for talks with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei said.
“Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif will arrive in Moscow next Friday,” the Iranian diplomat wrote on Friday on his LiveJournal blog.
Discussing bilateral, regional and international issues will top the agenda of talks between Zarif and the Russian officials, the Russian news agency ITAR-TASS reported Sanaei as saying.
Earlier in May, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Russia’s Vladimir Putin had held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the fourth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), in China’s Shanghai.
During meeting, the Iranian president hailed the strengthening of ties between Tehran and Moscow, stressing that such improved relations would usher in prevailing security across the region.
