Iran Unveils New Cruise Missiles, Drones
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday unveiled 4 new defensive products which have been designed and developed by the local military experts, including two new cruise missiles and two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The brand-new products have been developed by the Iranian Defense Ministry.
The drones include an interceptor and one for photogrammetry purposes, while the two projectiles are seen as new generation of cruise missiles that are utilized in naval operations.
The interceptor drone, dubbed the Karrar 4, is among the new generation of Iran’s jet drones, configured to intercept the enemy’s flying objects. It will enable the country’s armed forces to conduct a broader range of air defense operations at high altitudes.
The other drone, the Mohajer 4, is used for aerial imaging to produce topographic maps for both military and civilian purposes.
And the two missiles are both designed to be used in the naval operations.
One of them, the Qadir, is a new generation of cruise missiles. With its high precision and destructive power, the Qadir is capable of demolishing naval targets within a range of 300 kilometers. It can be either fired from the coast or launched while mounted on the military vessels.
Moreover, the Qadir can be launched by the missile systems previously at Iran’s disposal.
And the second naval cruise missile, dubbed the Nasr-e Basir, is reported to enjoy high operational power with high mobility.
Thanks to its special detector, the Nasr-e Basir is now a smart missile that can conduct raids under radio silence.
In recent years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and has attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.
Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to the regional countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
