Iran Greco-Roman Team Wins Veterans World Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran Greco-Roman wrestling team claimed the title of the 2014 Veterans World Championships on Sunday.

Internationally, Veterans athletes were 35 years old and above, and competed in seven age divisions.

In the competition, which was completed after three day, Iran won 22 total medals at the Veterans Worlds, including nine golds, four silvers and 9 bronzes.

Russia and Germany came second and third respectively.

The Iranian freestyle wrestling team had already finished in the first place in the competition, which was held in Belgrade, Serbia.

In the 3rd World Veteran Wrestling Championship more than 700 athletes represented 50 countries, including Iran, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Japan, Cuba, Poland, Serbia, Hungary, Turkey, US, Croatia, Belarus, India, Georgia, Italy, France and Germany.
