Indigenous Systems Guarantee Iran’s Air Defense: Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base highlighted the outstanding features of Iran’s homegrown air defense systems, stressing that the exclusive equipment will give Iran the military upper-hand.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili said the enemy would have definitely found out about Iran’s weak points if the country had purchased its air defense equipment from abroad.

The commander said Iran’s local experts have managed to develop a range of air defense equipment, including radars, data connection and missile defense systems over the past years.

Since last year, the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base has developed 4 new systems and has brought them into service, said the commander.

One of the new achievements is the Keyhan (Cosmos) long-range radar, which uses mixed frequencies to identify small flying objects with cruise missiles, he noted, describing the radar as a mobile system that is suitable for detecting large number of aerial targets in the electronic warfare.

Another achievement, Esmaili said, was the Hadi (Conductor) project, which is employed for transmitting radar and missile information to the command and control centers in long distances.

As regards another new product, namely the Arash 2 radar system, the commander said it enables the air defense units to transfer data very rapidly and also enjoys advanced technologies.

And the fourth product is the Talash 3 (Endeavor 3) missile defense system, which is a combination of the Iranian missiles and the S-200 long-range system.

Iran has in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, including the air defense systems that use cutting edge technologies.

Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.
