Iran Finishes 7th at AVC Cup for Women
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian volleyball team defeated Vietnam at the 4th AVC Cup for Women on Friday.
Iran beat Vietnam in straight sets (25–15, 25–19, 25–23) at the Main Gymnasium of Universiade Center in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China and finished in seventh place.
Host China won the gold medal after beating South Korea 3-0 (28-26, 26-24, 25-22) and bronze medal went to Kazakhstan who defeated Japan 3-2 (26–28, 25–23, 25–14, 19–25, 15–7).
Thailand and Chinese Taipei came fifth and sixth and Vietnam finished in eighth place.
The AVC Cup for Women is one of the most important competitions of AVC, being held every two years. The tournament this year is also a Qualification Tournament for 2015 World Grand Prix.
