3 Soldiers Killed in NW Pakistan's Attack

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Three soldiers were killed and two others injured when some unknown militants attacked paramilitary troops' fort in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of North Waziristan on Sunday, local media reported.

Dawn TV said that the militants hurled 20 rockets at the Frontier Corps fort in Spinwam area of North Waziristan, a restive area at Pakistan-Afghanistan border where security forces have been launching an armed offensive against Taliban militants since July 15.

Official sources say that the rocket attack at the fort caused both human and material loss.

Military authorities confirmed that one of the rockets fell into the fort, resulting in the deaths of three security personnel while two others were injured, Xinhua reported.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed sorrow on the death of three security personnel.

In a statement from the Prime Minister House, Sharif said the sacrifices of the armed forces for security of the country would not go in vain.

The premier also extended condolences to the families of the slain soldiers.
