Iran Urges Homegrown Solution to Syria, Iraq Problems

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian deputy foreign minister underlined that the Iraqi and Syrian nations are capable enough to deal with the problems that have plagued their countries.

Iraq and Syria are capable enough to resolve problems in their countries, Hassan Qashqavi said in a Monday meeting with Danish Deputy Foreign Minister of Egberg Mikeln in Tehran.

The Iranian diplomat also insisted that the scourge of terrorism should be tackled basically.

Any effort to fight terrorism will be fruitless without identifying the root causes and effective factors, Qashqavi explained.

He also voiced Tehran’s preparedness to promote cooperation with Copenhagen in the fight against terrorism and organized crimes.

The European diplomat, for his part, called for the expansion of relations with Iran in all fields.

Earlier this month, Denmark’s Foreign Minister Martin Lidegaard had underlined the importance of Iran’s help in confronting the threats posed by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group.
