Iran Loses to Germany at FIVB World Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Germany swept Iran in straight sets (25-15, 25-21, 25-19)in Pool G of the FIVB Men’s World Championship at Spodek Arena of Katowice on Wednesday.

Germany’s Gyorgy Grozer finished with 23 points, including four bombs from the service line and one block.  En route to his splendid night, Grozer produced an efficiency of 62.96 with his killing attempts (18-of-27). Marcus Bohme and Denys Kaliberda contributed 8 and 7 points in the victory.

Amir Ghafour finished with 9 points for Iran while Farhad Ghaemi, Seyed Mousavi and Mojatba Mirzajanpour had seven apiece.

Germany, who was crushed by France in consecutive sets in one day before, evened its win-loss record at 1-1 with 3 points in Pool G.

Iran (0-1, 0) will play France (1-0, 3) on Thursday to close the actions of the group and determine the two teams advancing to the Final Four phase.
