Iran’s Holy Defense Shattered Fallacy of Superpowers’ Invincibility

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Ministry of Defense in a statement said the country’s Sacred Defense (in the 8-year Iran-Iraq War) disproved the false notion that world’s superpowers are invincible.

“The Sacred Defense of the Iranian nation broke into pieces the myth that world’s hegemonic superpowers are invincible and presented an instructive and inspiring example to the oppressed nations and societies,” said the statement issued on the occasion of the Sacred Defense Week, which marks the onset of the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988).

It said the imposed war that had been designed to destroy the Islamic Revolution and overthrow the sacred Islamic Republic, was turned into a source of dignity and honor for Iranians, thanks to the wise leadership of the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini and the resistance and steadfastness of the Iranian nation.

The statement went on to say that the outstanding status of the Islamic Republic in regional and trans-regional arenas today has been achieved thanks to the epical Sacred Defense and the insight and steadfastness of the Iranian warriors during the 8-year imposed war.

Sacred Defense Week begins on Shahrivar 31 in the Iranian calendar (September 22 this year), which is the day Iraq invaded Iran and began the imposed war on the country in 1980.

Each year, Iranian Armed Forces attend nationwide military parades to mark the week, during which the country’s latest defensive achievements are put on display.
