Iran’s Missile Defense System Effectual in All Altitudes: Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A high-ranking Iranian military commander said the country’s homegrown air defense system, known as Talash (Endeavor), can hit flying targets in all altitudes.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Monday, Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili said the domestically-made Talash system is compatible with a varied range of missiles.

The system can hit the targets in the low, medium and high altitudes, added the commander.

He made the comments on the sidelines of massive military parades, held to mark the beginning of the Sacred Defense Week.

A host of the latest air defense achievements were also put on display in the event, including the Keyhan and Arash radars, as well as the Talash 1, 2 and 3 missile defense systems.

The Keyhan (Cosmos) long-range radar, which uses mixed frequencies to identify small flying objects with cruise missiles, is a mobile system that is suitable for detecting large number of aerial targets in the electronic warfare.

And the Arash 2 radar system enjoys advanced technologies and enables the air defense units to transfer data very rapidly.

Iran has in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, including the air defense systems that use cutting edge technologies.

Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.
