Leader Highlights Magnificence of Iran’s Sacred Defense
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei described Iran’s Holy Defense as a manifestation of the nation’s greatness and glory.
In a statement issued on the occasion of the Sacred Defense Week, which marks the onset of the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988), Imam Khamenei said the Iranian nation’s 8-year defense (against the enemy's aggression) manifested the nation’s grandeur and glory.
The leader also lauded the self-sacrifices made by the country’s martyrs and their families.
Sacred Defense Week begins on Shahrivar 31 in the Iranian calendar (September 22 this year), which is the day Iraq invaded Iran and began the imposed war on the country in 1980.
Each year, Iranian Armed Forces attend nationwide military parades to mark the week, during which the country’s latest defensive achievements are put on display.
