Commander: No Plan for Mass Production of Downed Israeli Drone
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A ranking commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said Iran has no plan to mass produce an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) it shot down in August, and underlined that Iran is in possession of more advanced technologies.
Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency on Saturday, Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said Iran will neither try to acquire the technology of Israel’s “Hermes” drone nor begin to mass produce the aircraft.
“The Hermes’ espionage technology was not anything special,” the commander noted.
“Iran’s technology in manufacturing drones is much more advanced than Israel's and drones such as Hermes,” Hajizadeh explained.
The commander also asserted that Iran will hit any other intruding Israeli spy drone like what it did to Hermes in future.
On August 24, the IRGC tracked and shot down a radar-evading stealth Israeli drone which was intending to penetrate the airspace over Natanz nuclear zone.
The intruding “Hermes” aircraft was intercepted by a surface-to-air missile. However, some components of the targeted drone remained intact.
