Designing of Iran’s 150-Seat Passenger Plane in Progress: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has successfully completed the initial design phase of a 150-seat passenger aircraft and plans to proceed with the next steps, an aviation industry official said.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Sunday, Managing Director of the Iranian Aviation Industries Organization Manouchehr Manteqi said the initial phase focused on a “conceptual design”, adding that the second phase of designing will commence on Tuesday.

During the third phase, the Iranian official said, the whole components of the aircraft will be designed.

The entire design work for such a plane takes a 5-year span of time, Manteqi noted.

He also confirmed that Iran is cooperating with foreign countries to manufacture the passenger plane, but declined to name them.

In July 2013, Head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization Hamid Reza Pahlevani had announced that researchers from several Iranian industrial and academic centers are working on the project.
