Pro-Zionists Exercising Apartheid under Human Rights Title: Jalili
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian political figure lashed out at pro-Israeli states for their use of human rights as a pretext to carry out apartheid-style policies.
“Today, apartheid is being enforced in the name of human rights and the self-proclaimed advocates of human rights are those who support the crimes committed by the Zionist regime (of Israel) in killing hundreds of children,” said Saeed Jalili, the former secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), addressing the 2nd International Conference of Independent Thinkers (known as New Horizon) here in Tehran on Monday.
Jalili, also a member of Iran’s Expediency Council, lashed out at the United Nations Security Council for its muted response to the massacre of children by Israel during the most recent military offensive on the Gaza Strip.
“The arrogant powers jeopardize not only the rights of other nations, but also the security and rights of their own nations,” Jalili added.
On July 8, Israel opened air strikes on the Gaza Strip. After 10 days of bombardment of the enclave from the air and sea, the Israeli forces launched a ground offensive against the densely-populated enclave of 1.8 million Palestinians on July 17.
During 50 days of war, over 2,100 Palestinians, mostly civilians, were killed in the Israeli strikes, which left more than 11,000 injured and thousands more displaced in the besieged territory.
