Korean Firms Invited to Invest in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s deputy economy minister called on the South Korean companies to make investment in the Islamic Republic rather than being involved in mere trade with the country.

In a Wednesday meeting with trade delegations from South Korea, held in Tehran, Iran’s Deputy Economy Minister Mohammad Khazaee called on the East Asian country’s companies to shift their business strategy toward Iran.

Making investment in Iran is a “win-win strategy” for both the Korean and Iranian companies, he explained.

Highlighting the ample economic opportunities in Iran, Khazaee said the country provides good access to the mass regional market with some 600 million population in its neighboring countries.

Back in January, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with South Korean National Assembly Speaker Kang Chang-hee invited the Korean firms to make investment in Iran’s oil and gas industries.

“I see no obstacle to the enhancement of the age-old economic, scientific, cultural and trade relations between Iran and South Korea, and the ground is prepared for the (South) Korean companies’ investment and activities in various fields of (Iran’s) oil, gas, energy and industry,” President Rouhani had announced.
