President Rouhani Describes Baku Visit as Constructive

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said his visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan was positive and constructive.

Speaking to reporters upon his arrival at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport on Thursday, Rouhani highlighted the accomplishments made during his trip to Baku and said they were in line with serving the interests of the two nations.

He noted that six agreements in different areas were signed between Tehran and Baku during the visit.

The Iranian chief executive referred to his four meetings with the Azeri president in the past year and said these meetings have helped to expand relations between the two countries.

A high-raking delegation including ministers of foreign affairs, oil, roads and urban development, communications and information technology, economic affairs and finance, and sports and youth accompanied President Rouhani in his one-day trip to the Azeri capital on Wednesday.

The official trip was aimed at strengthening Tehran-Baku ties and bolstering Iran’s interaction with Caucasus.

Back in April this year, Aliyev paid a visit to Tehran to consult with senior Iranian officials on bilateral and regional issues and enhancement of mutual relations.

Trade volume between the two countries amounted to $281.03 million in 2013, more than 6 percent higher than the year before.
