5 Terrorists Arrested in Afghan Capital

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Up to five terrorists have been detained in Afghan capital of Kabul, local media reported Friday.

"Five would-be suicide bombers have captured by the personnel of National Directorate of Security (NDS). The captured men planned to launch an attack and target the Second Vice-President General Abdul Rashid Dostom," citing NDS or intelligence agency officials, the Tolo News reported.

Further details are unavailable yet, the report said, Xinhua reported.

The Taliban insurgent group has intensified attacks over the past couple of months as the NATO and U.S. forces are withdrawing from the country. The war-torn country is due to take over the responsibility for its own security from NATO-led troops by the end of year.

On Wednesday, four attackers were killed and several security guards wounded after Taliban insurgents stormed a foreign residential compound in eastern part of Kabul with a car bomb and guns.
