Zarif, Kerry, Ashton to Meet Again in Vienna

VIENNA (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, US Secretary of State John Kerry and the European Union’s envoy Catherine Ashton are scheduled to hold a fourth meeting on Saturday evening in Vienna, which hosts a fresh round of talks on Iran’s nuclear program.

The trilateral meeting is slated for 5 p.m. local time (1600 GMT).

It will be the fourth time in just two days that the top diplomats hold a three-way gathering to break a deadlock in the talks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program as a November 24 deadline is looming.

The fresh round of talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) started on Tuesday and is expected to run until at least Monday.

Kerry said on Saturday there were still serious gaps in talks despite signs of some progress.

"We're working hard," said the US secretary of state ahead of a meeting with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier. "We hope we’re making careful progress, but we have big gaps, we still have some serious gaps, which we’re working to close," Kerry noted.

The talks are aimed at signing a long-awaited deal, meant to end years of West's standoff over Tehran’s civilian nuclear program.
