Iran’s Defense Ministry, Environmental Protection Organization Ink MoU

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Environmental Protection Organization (IEPO) and Defense Ministry signed a memorandum of understanding to forge closer cooperation in a bid to conserve environment in the country.

The MoU was signed between Head of IEPO Masoumeh Ebtekar and Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan.

Under the deal, the Defense Ministry will undertake to provide technical assistance via its equipment and high-tech products to identify and meet the environmental challenges.

The ministry will also help the IEPO in designing and manufacturing the necessary equipment such as fire-fighting machinery, guided vessels, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), portable laboratories, residue management and recycling systems, waste disposal equipment and taking aerial and satellite maps with special optical devices.

The IEPO, in turn, will assist the Defense Ministry in locating the appropriate zones for the transfer of military industries under the environmental standards. It will also give Defense Ministry personnel expert environmental training according to the agreement.
