Commander Underscores Iran’s Defensive Capabilities

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Army Lieutenant Commander Brigadier General Abdolrahim Mousavi cautioned the enemies against the country's crushing response to any act of aggression.

“At present, our capability stands at such a level that if anybody wants to think about any plots against the country’s territory, the Iranian armed forces and people will make them regret,” the senior commander told reporters on Saturday.

He made the comments on the sidelines of a large-scale wargame, codenamed “Muhammad Rasulullah” (Muhammad, the messenger of God), underway in south and southeast of the country.

Brigadier General Mousavi noted that the tactics and operations practiced in the exercise are only “part of the armed forces’ power and might.”

He said the military drills, attended by different units representing all Army divisions, convey the “message of peace and friendship to the whole regional countries.”

“The message of the wargame for those who think of hegemony is that they have to stop thinking about invasion,” the top commander added.

The drill will run until December 31 in an area of 2.2 million square kilometers, stretching from the northern Indian Ocean (10 degrees latitude) to the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf and in the southern and southeastern Iranian provinces of Sistan and Balouchestan and Hormozgan.
