Army Commander Highlights Iranian Air Force’s High Preparedness

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Army Commander Major General Ataollah Salehi underlined the high level of preparedness in the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) to defend the country.

General Salehi said the conditions of the IRIAF and the preparedness of its different sections signify that further achievements await the force.

He made the remark on Sunday during a visit to Shahid Lashgari Airbase in Tehran.

The senior commander visited the Boeing 747 simulator as well as the workshops of the airbase where the Air Force’s Boeing 707, Boeing 747 and C130 transport aircraft are overhauled.

Before the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the overhaul of military planes in Iran was carried out by foreign military attachés. But today the Islamic Republic is able to overhaul military aircraft thanks to reliance on the capabilities of the country’s engineers and technicians.

Iran has become one of only a handful of countries capable of performing the servicing and overhaul of its fleet of airplanes, both military and civilian.

This is while the country has been under sanctions since 1979 and the sanctions have become more intense after the country started its nuclear energy program.
