Minister Highlights Iran’s Intelligence Supremacy over Takfiri Groups' Moves
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's intelligence minister said the country is closely monitoring the moves of Takfiri (extremist) and terrorist groups, including the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and has an intelligence supremacy over them.
Iranian intelligence agents enjoy a full control over the moves of Takfiri groups and "will nip them in the bud," Seyed Mahmoud Alawi said in a speech in the western province of Ilam on Tuesday.
He also said that today, the most serious threat posed to the Islamic world is the attack on the Muslim people's religious beliefs.
Back in September, Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs General Hossein Zolfaqari had said that the country's security forces have been closely monitoring the situation in the region and are fully prepared to counter any possible threats from the ISIL terrorist group.
As regards the possible infiltration of the ISIL elements into Iran, the official underlined that the country’s intelligence service keeps a close watch on the whole areas.
He assured the nation that the ISIL could not pose any threat to Iran, and added, “We are prepared to encounter any condition that might be abused by the terrorist groups, such as the ISIL.”
The ISIL is a militant group operating in Iraq and Syria which is believed to be supported by the West and some regional Arab countries. The terrorist group claims as an independent state the territory of Iraq and Syria, with implied future claims intended over more of the Levant, including Lebanon, occupied Palestine, Jordan, Cyprus, and Southern Turkey.
