Vice President to Open Iran Exhibition in Iraq

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri will travel to Iraq next week to open a specialized exhibition of Iranian products in Baghdad, an official said.

Majid Qorbani Faraz, an official in charge of handling trade with Iraq at the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, announced on Monday that Jahangiri will go to the Arab country along with a number of Iranian ministers and high-ranking authorities, in a visit highlighting the significance of the due exhibition.

The specialized exhibition of Iranian products will be mounted in Baghdad from February 16 to 19.

Senior officials from the two neighboring countries are scheduled to hold Iran-Iraq high joint commission concurrent with the upcoming trade fair.

According to Qorbani Faraz, some 250 Iranian companies will take part in the exhibition, showcasing their products and services in various fields such as oil industry, construction, water and electricity industry, pharmaceutical products and medical equipment, technical and engineering services, food industry, home appliances, detergent materials and automotive industry.

He said more than 70 Iranian companies producing pharmaceuticals and medical equipment are expected in the exhibition.

The official also provided data on the trade exchange between Iran and Iraq during the first ten months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2014, January 20, 2015).

He said Iran has exported $5.3 billion worth of non-oil products to Iraq within the span of 10 month, while the value of the technical and engineering services that Iran has offered Iraq in that period stood at $400 million.

“Indeed, the total of Iranian exports to Iraq during the mentioned period was $5.7 billion,” Qorbani Faraz added.
