Islamic Revolution, Foundation of New World Order, Says Iran’s Deputy FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for African and Middle Eastern Affairs said the Islamic Revolution of Iran should be regarded as the basis of the new world order.

“In my belief, in the current conditions, the world order has collapsed without a new one having replaced it," Hossein Amir Abdollahian said in an interview with the Institute for the Compilation and Publication of Ayatollah Khamenei’s Works.

"However" he said "we are moving toward a new order at the international and global level and we should undoubtedly consider the Islamic Revolution as the foundation and basis of this order."

He said the Islamic Revolution is at the center of a development in relation to which the new world order is being shaped.

The senior diplomat added that since the end of the Cold War, the Islamic Revolution has been one of the major players in the world order arrangements.

He referred to the wave of Islamic Awakening in the region and underlined that while the Islamic Republic has had no practical interference in the developments related to the field of Islamic Awakening, the Islamic Revolution influenced the field with the model it introduced.

“The (origins of) events occurring in the region undeniably go back to over three decades ago, namely the victory of Iran’s (1979) Islamic Revolution”.

The Islamic Awakening refers to the Islamic movement which started with the Tunisian revolution and led to the uprisings in other countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Yemen and Bahrain.

Amir Abdollahian further stressed that one of the common aspects of the revolutions in Egypt, Yemen, Tunisia and Bahrain was opposition to the Zionist regime and one of the reasons why the Islamic Revolution has attained such a status is its unequivocal stances in support of Palestine.
