Ministry Urges Nation's Massive Turn Out in Rallies to Mark Victory of Revolution

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Interior Ministry invited people all over the country to take part in tomorrow’s nationwide rallies slated to be held in commemoration of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11, 1979.

In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry congratulated Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian nation on the anniversary and described the revolution as “a history-making event” that transcended geographical limits and made the human and Islamic message of the Iranian society reverberate all over the world.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 35 years ago, on February 11, 1979, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The revolution, spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.

The interior ministry stressed that despite the hostile attempts made by enemies of the Iranian nation, great strides have been taken toward realization of political and social freedoms since the victory of the revolution.

It further underscored that tomorrow’s rallies will be "another opportunity for the Iranian nation to resolutely insist on their principles and reiterate the sublime aspirations of the Islamic Revolution."

Every year in February, Iranian people pour into the streets in their millions to commemorate the great victory of the Islamic Revolution.

In relevant remarks on Saturday, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei stated that the Islamic establishment in Iran receives its impetus from the public supports and the nation’s solidarity with the government.

Ayatollah Khamenei further said that the Iranian nation will once again express their “national dignity” to the world during the forthcoming mass rallies on February 11.
