During the meeting, Ayatollah Amoli Larijani said Iran and Iraq should exchange judicial and legal experiences.
He described the 4 judicial agreements signed between the two countries as very good pacts and called for the implementation of the agreed items.
“We are ready for cooperation (in this respect) and expect the Iraqi side to execute the agreements as it will be effective in the interactions between the two judiciary systems and the two countries on the whole.”
Ayatollah Amoli Larijani further referred to the issue of Iranian pilgrims detained in Iraq for illegal entry and urged for leniency in their trial given that their intention was pilgrimage to Iraqi holy sites.
Midhat al-Mahmoud, for his part, referred to the strong bond between the two countries’ nations and governments and said no one can break this bond.
He also said that his country has benefited from Iran’s judicial experiences since 2003.
Al-Mahmoud went on to say that Iraq’s judiciary has already started implementing the judicial agreements signed with Iran.
