Commander Reasserts Iran’s Intelligence Supremacy over US

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has developed a thorough understanding of the US military capabilities, a senior Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) commander stressed, saying he was emphatic about the Islamic Republic’s victory in a possible armed confrontation.

“We are aware of the US Army’s capabilities and nature and of our own capabilities… no doubt we will emerge victorious in any possible war between the two sides,” Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said in an interview with Iran’s Al-Alam news channel.

He explained that Iran has already taken all the preparatory measures for any confrontation with the US.

“We have our own methods and are experienced… Today, Iran possesses whatever necessary defensive and intelligence capabilities for such confrontation (with the US),” the commander said.

He also pointed to the practical experience Iran has gained in eight years of Iraqi imposed war in the 1980s, saying the country was faced with very big challenges and threats after that war.

Back in February, Head of Iran’s Civil Defense Organization Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali said the country has spent three years to draw up a major plan to defend itself in case of possible military confrontation with the US.

“It needed almost three years to devise the new doctrine of countering the US, which is based on refraining from concentration (of forces) in specific spots to become a (single) target (for enemy),” Jalali said at the time.
