Bolivia believes that the conflict in Syria can only be settled through a political and diplomatic solution including holding elections, Marcelo Elio Chavez said during a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani on the sidelines of the second parliamentary meeting of the friends of Syria countries held in Tehran on Sunday.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Chavez called for the promotion of Tehran-La Paz bilateral cooperation in various international arenas and emphasized the need to consolidate ties through utilizing all capacities.

During the meeting, Larijani also reiterated the importance of resolving the Syrian crisis through political approaches.

The Iranian parliament speaker said the upcoming presidential election is a great opportunity for the restoration of peace and stability in the crisis-hit country.

He further hailed the anti-hegemonic stance of Bolivia and other Latin American countries on regional and international issues.

Larijani said Iran and Bolivia are determined to further expand bilateral relations.
