TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham on Saturday emphasized that the Iraqi nation will never allow the breakup of their country.

“Iraq’s Constitution has the capacity to satisfy demands of all the people of this country and we have no doubt that any Iraqi individual wants their country’s integrity to be preserved and will never accede to its breakup,” she said.

Afkham also made it clear that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports the unity and integrity of Iraq.

“The vigilant people of Iraq definitely will not allow the plots and delusions of the Zionist regime (Israel) and the enemies of a united Iraq in the region to be realized."

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman made the comments in reference to recent remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who voiced support on Sunday for the separation of Iraq's northern Kurdistan region from the country.

Netanyahu’s words followed similar statements by senior Israeli officials. Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Thursday told US Secretary of State John Kerry that he believes “the creation of an independent Kurdish state is a foregone conclusion,” citing Iraq’s “breaking up.”

Meanwhile, Israeli President Shimon Peres told US President Barack Obama that “the Kurds have, de facto, created their own state, which is democratic.
