The Spanish media reported that the UD Las Palmas midfielder is on the verge of joining AEK Athens, who is in the second tier of Greek football.
Former Technical Secretary of the UD Las Palmas Branko Milovanovic has joined the Greek team and it seems Shojaei will reunite with the Serbian.
Shojaei was part of Iran squad that was eliminated from the World Cup in the group stage.
The 30-year-old midfielder made 101 appearances for Osasuna from 2008 to 2013 before joining Las Palmas and scored eight goals.
