Kuwait’s Emir Condoles with Iran over Plane Crash


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah expressed his condolences following today’s crash of an Iranian passenger jet.

In a message issued on Sunday, the Kuwaiti ruler offered his sincere condolences to Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and sympathized with the bereaved families of victims.
 
Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the country’s Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah also sent messages of condolences over the tragic incident.

The An-140 passenger plane crashed in a residential area near Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport shortly after take-off at 9:18 am local time on Sunday.

At least 38 passengers have been killed so far. No information is available on the cause of the crash.

After the fatal crash, Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhondi assigned a team from Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization the job of investigating the cause of crash.
