Iran Handball Team Outplays Kuwait in Asian Games


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's national handball team beat Asian powerhouse Kuwait in Group B of preliminary round of the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea on Monday.

In the match held at the Seonhak Handball Gymnasium, the Iranian team defeated the Persian Gulf country Kuwait 29-25 and qualified for the next stage as the first team.

Iran had already defeated Hong Kong 41-10 in its opening match on Sunday.

Some 9,500 athletes from 45 countries are competing at the Games, the world's second-biggest multi-sport event after the summer Olympics, with 439 gold medals in 36 sports up for grabs.

Iran has participated in the games with 276 athletes in 22 sports.
