NAM Ministers Reiterate Support for Palestine

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) underlined their support for Palestinians’ efforts to end the Zionist regime’s occupation of their motherland.

In a Saturday meeting on the sidelines of the 69th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, they voiced support for the international actions taken by Palestine aimed at terminating Zionist occupation.

Riyad Mansour, Palestinian Ambassador who attended the meeting, in an address briefed the NAM ministers on the diplomatic measures announced by Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian national unity government, to specify a deadline for the end of the Israeli occupation, DPA news agency reported.

He said that, as part of the Palestinian action, the parties to the Fourth Geneva Conventions will be urged to meet its provisions and thus hold Israel accountable for crimes it has perpetrated.

The ambassador sought NAM’s support to this action, calling on the member states to take real steps to hold Israel accountable for committing crimes against the Palestinian people and breaching international law.

He said it is time to adopt economic measures as a means of initial deterrence against Israel and its settlement policies.
