Iran Advances to International Futsal Grand Prix Semis
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian futsal team defeated Costa Rica to book a place in the semi-final of the International Futsal Grand Prix underway in Brazil.
Iran defeated Costa Rica 5-1 at the Ginasio Adib Moises Dib in São Bernardo do Campo.
Iran will face Colombia on Saturday in the semi-final.
Host Brazil will also face Guatemala in the other semis.
The six teams are competing for the championship of the ninth edition.
Iran defeated Guatemala 7-2 in its first match in Group B.
The Brazilian Futsal Confederation has organized the FIFA-recognized Grand Prix, one of the world's major tournaments for the sport, every year since 2005. Brazil won seven of the eight editions held so far, losing only once to Spain in 2010.
