Rouhani Submits Bill on Iran-Pakistan Extradition Agreement

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani handed over a bill to the parliament that would lay the ground for a previously signed agreement between Iran and Pakistan for repatriating criminals.

The bill has been submitted to the parliament for legal procedures, the official website of the Iranian president announced on Saturday.

According to the proposal, the extradition of the Iranian and Pakistani convicts can be carried out either at the request of themselves or their respective governments.

In case that the governments ask for the extradition, the consent of the prisoners should be obtained, the bill indicates.

Back in May, Iranian and Pakistani officials signed an agreement on the extradition of criminals as part of a broader effort by the two sides to boost mutual cooperation.
