Nuclear Deal Unacceptable without Full Removal of Sanctions: Iranian MP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Sanctions should be removed “all at once” and “completely” in the final nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, otherwise people and government would not accept it, an Iranian lawmaker said on Friday.

Earlier on Thursday night, Iran and six world powers reached a framework agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program after intensive negotiations in Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final, comprehensive accord until the end of June.

“Our nation and government would not acknowledge a deal in which the complete and all-at-once removal of sanctions is not emphasized,” Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, the rapporteur for the parliament's national security and foreign policy committee, told the Tasnim News Agency.

The framework agreement was read out on Thursday night in a joint press conference in Lausanne by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini.

Referring to the statement, Naqavi said that different aspects of the framework will be examined in the first session of parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee.

Parliament would never accept commitments beyond the general principles of the Islamic Republic, he added, expressing the hope that Parliament’s analysis of the framework would prove it to be consistent with macro-scale policies.
